Deborah Anne Hamlin ("Debbie"), age 71, quietly passed away on 2/18/2026 in her nursing home facility after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Rochester, NY in 1955 as the daughter of Helene (Mayer) and Richard Hamlin and lived most of her life as a resident of New York City.
Debbie spent her childhood growing up in several locations around the country. She obtained both her undergraduate degree in French studies and her law degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She was a member of the New York State Bar and practiced corporate law in New York City. In between degrees Debbie received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in France for two years where she enjoyed life and became fluent in the language. In addition to her achievements, Debbie developed many friendships over the years, loved her family, and enjoyed travel, the sun, and the beach. Throughout her life she was a superb athlete and had a strong passion for sports.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 42 years Kenneth Cavanagh, by her son Matthew Hamlin-Cavanagh, and by her siblings Dianne Hamlin Haydock, David Hamlin, Donna Hamlin (Patrick Wodack), and Denise Hamlin Rinarello (the late Anthony). She is predeceased by her mother Helene, whom she greatly loved and admired.
A private cremation for Debbie has been arranged in accordance with her wishes. A Remembrance for her will be organized at a later date.
