Deborah Schober

1955 - 2026

Deborah "Debi" Louise Schober, born on August 23, 1955, in Richmond, California, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, in Goodyear, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family. She was 70 years old.

Debi was the first-born daughter of Marlene and Pete Schober, Jr., and the proud big sister to Carl, Carol, and Pete. She shared a special bond with her siblings, including the unique experience of being the same age as her twin siblings for 13 days each year—a memory she cherished deeply.

A graduate of Pinole Valley High School in 1973, Debi pursued her passion for beauty and creativity at Paris Beauty College, graduating in 1974. She began her career as a hairstylist and barber at Silveridge Barber Shop in Pinole before realizing her dream of opening her own salon, Mama's Hair Raisers in El Sobrante. Her salon quickly became a beloved community hub where clients became friends. Later in her career, she worked as a Master Hair Stylist at JCPenney before retiring to Buckeye, Arizona.

Debi's artistic talents extended far beyond hairstyling. A lover of Rock and Roll, she had the rare opportunity to serve as the backstage hairstylist for musicians such as Elvin Bishop and Sly Stone. Her vibrant personality shone through in every aspect of her life—whether belting out "Me and Bobby McGee" at open mic nights or embracing her Calabrese roots during a memorable trip to Italy in August 2016.

An animal lover with a special connection to dogs, Debi adored her Boston Terrier, Dottie 2. Her appreciation for nature was evident in her love of dragonflies and hummingbirds, which she celebrated through body art and home décor. Debi also found strength and community through her active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous and remained steadfast in her Catholic faith. She especially treasured the Sign of Peace during Mass.

Debi's infectious personality lit up every room she entered. Known for her sense of humor and generous spirit, she brought laughter and joy to those around her. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. Her unique spark drew people of all ages to her, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Debi is survived by her siblings Carl (Joan), Carol, and Pete (Sherilynn); nephews Scott and James; nieces Claire (Dave), Gina (Jake), Jacquelyn (Ray), Alana (DeAngelo); five great-nephews; four great-nieces; and countless friends who will forever remember her warmth and light.

To honor Debi's memory, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of your choice. Services for Debi have not yet been scheduled.

Debi lived life on her terms—boldly, passionately, and with an open heart. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
