Deborah Mettler Scott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Sacramento, California. She was 69 years old.
Deborah was born on June 8, 1956, in Lodi, California, to Joice and Charles Mettler. She grew up in Lodi and graduated from Tokay High School in 1974. Her early years in the close-knit community of Lodi laid the foundation for a life filled with meaningful connections and a deep appreciation for history and family.
Deborah dedicated over three decades of her professional life as the Collections Manager for the San Joaquin County Historical Museum. Her work reflected her passion for preserving history and sharing it with others. Through her meticulous care and dedication to her role, she left an indelible mark on the museum and its staff.
Outside of her career, Deborah found immense joy in traveling and spending time with her loved ones. Whether exploring new destinations or cherishing moments at home with family, she embraced life’s experiences with warmth and enthusiasm.
Deborah is survived by her devoted husband, George Scott; her loving daughter, Brianna Nelson; and her cherished grandsons, Aiden and Caeleb Nelson. She also leaves behind her brother Brian Mettler; sister-in-law Jackie Dent; and nephew Colin Mettler. Deborah was predeceased by her first husband, Rodney Mastel; as well as her parents, Joice and Charles Mettler.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best—her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her kindness and dedication. May Deborah’s legacy bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
A private service will be held to honor Deborah’s life at a later date. A Memorial Service will be held on April 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Grace Presbyterian Church 10 N. Mills Ave Lodi, Ca 95242
