Debra "Debbie" ("Deb") Marie Theresa Britt, age 71, passed away on December 23, 2025. A native of Albany, NY, she was born on May 4, 1954. She was the beloved daughter of Yvonne Lemerise Britt and Andrew E. Britt, and the cherished sister of the late Andrew J. Britt and Noel Britt Daly. She is survived by her brother, Peter Britt, and her seven children: Alexander Globerson, Jennifer Peters, Katharine Britt-Busler, Rachel Britt-Busler, Michelle Britt-Busler, Elizabeth Britt-Busler, and Paul Britt-Busler, as well as her daughter-in-law, Priscilla Britt-Busler. Debra took great pride in her children and found joy in watching them grow into their own lives, talents, and passions.
She attended Marylrose (the Academy of Holy Names) and went on to earn a BFA in Design and Painting from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, followed by an MBA in Finance and Marketing from SUNY Albany—reflecting both her creative spirit and her sharp, practical mind.
During the 1980s, Debra contributed to the development of the Capital Hill Condominiums and the conversion of the vacant Albany Softball Factory into artists' living and creative spaces.
Debra served as Regional Director of Insurance for Merrill Lynch in New York and later in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Always committed to the communities in which she lived, she was an active member of local Chambers of Commerce and various arts and education programs.
Returning to the Capital District in 2003, Debra served the surrounding areas as a real estate broker. She was a proud member of organizations including the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Capital Repertory Theatre, SPAC, the Albany Institute of History and Art, and the Northeastern Association for the Blind of Albany.
Debra was a passionate lover of life. She found joy in books that sparked conversation, films that lingered in the mind, music that stirred emotions, and travels that opened new perspectives. She loved sharing these passions with others, always eager to recommend a favorite author, movie, or destination.
Those who knew Debra will remember her warmth, her intellect, and her ability to connect deeply with people through shared interests and meaningful conversation. Her presence enriched the lives around her, and her memory will continue to do so.
A memorial service for close family and friends will be announced at a later date.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
