Della M. Walters, 75, transitioned peacefully on March 27, 2026. She was born on September 5, 1950, in Brownsville, Tennessee, to the late Walter T. Bond Sr. and Letha Mae Bond.
Della was a proud graduate of Tolleston High School, Class of 1969. She began her career as a secretary at the Army Recruiting Station before building a long and dedicated career with U.S. Steel. Della worked faithfully at U.S. Steel for 34 years as a quencher car operator before retiring in 2009.
She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and caring nature. Della found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, and dancing. Della also enjoyed playing softball with the Gary Smokettes, sewing, knitting, and completing crossword puzzles. Her warm smile and loving heart touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Bond Jr., Curtis Bond, Mc Leonard Bond, Sr., Melvin Taylor, Marvin Taylor, and Ricky Taylor; sisters Lillie Bond, Gynder Bowens; Latrice Bond; Nephews Willie T. Bond, Jr., Dale Bond, Houston Bond, Breon Bond, David Hinton, Cleotha Davis III, James Upshaw, K'hari DeJesus; Niece Khalilah Bond, Yvonne Upshaw, Danielle Florence.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory children Phyllis Clark, Kevin Walters, Natasha Walters and India Johnson; Grandchildren Tatiana (Melvin) Guerrero , Latreas Clark, Brianna Clark, Bradley Clark III (Gelesa), Brandon (Carla) Clark, Dexter Clark, Ke'isha Walters, Tiara Walters, Devyn Walters, Michael Hardin, Leslie Hardin, Anthony Hardin, Tori Hardin, Tasha Hardin, Mercedes (Julius) Page, Meeko Bond, Imani Bond, Khalil Malaine, Mariah Malaine, Latasha Jones, Tracy Jones Jr., Eddie McGee III, Christian McGee, Jayda Johnson: Brothers Ronnie (Yolanda) Bond, Jesse (Karen) Bond, Edward (Sue) Bond, Houston (Sandra) Bond, Charles Bond , James Bond, Darren Bond, Johnny Taylor, Michael Taylor, Paul Taylor; Sisters Betty Bond, Flossie Bond, Ann Taylor, Lisa Taylor, Meryl Taylor as well as 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church 2323 West 11th Avenue Gary, Indiana 46404. Rev. Eric Boone officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
