Delores Ahern (nee Vatier )

AHERN - Dolores (née Vatier) of Hemet, California, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 81. Beloved daughter of the late Frank J. and Charlotte Vatier. Devoted mother of Joan and Diane. Cherished grandmother of Stephen, Sean, and Christopher.



Dolores was the oldest of six children and is survived by her loving brothers Douglas and Frank. She was predeceased by her brothers Hume, Gregory, and Andrew. Dolores also worked for several years as a teacher's aide for children with special needs in Pennsylvania.



A life-long practicing Catholic and an active member of the church, served as a eucharistic minister. Dolores was outgoing, quick to make new friends, and loyal to old friends. Always joking around, she loved to travel with friends and was fiercely independent. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, she graduated from St. Ignatius grammar school and Hicksville High School. She lived in Hicksville and Floral Park, New York, later residing in Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, and Hemet, California. Dolores was formerly married to James Ahern.



Dolores will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and steadfast faith, and for the love she shared with her family and friends throughout her life.




A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Hemet, California. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Hemet, California, in Dolores's name.
