Demorise Alexander McCoy, Jr.

Demorise A. McCoy, Jr., 69, transitioned on October 23, 2025. Affectionately known as Junior or J.R. by most. He was born at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. Later he moved with his family to Springfield, Massachusetts. Junior leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Joanna Mendes of Springfield, his children, Arsenia, Alexander and Demorise Hutchins, Jeffrey Andrews and Josephina McCoy of Springfield, MA. 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Siblings Venorise Griffin (Joe), David McCoy of Springfield, Sherrie McCoy of Bowie, Maryland and Judy Troy of North Carolina. Junior also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, Demorise A. McCoy, Sr. and Bernice Smith. Junior was known for his warm smile and cheerful disposition. He had a heart of service, always willing to lend a helping hand. Junior enjoyed the outdoors, no matter the weather. He enjoyed the water, being on a boat, fishing and cooking his catch. Junior served the community through his work, maintaining properties and lawns. His specialty, tree removal and he was skilled in climbing. Junior's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service held on November 22, 2025, at Morningstar Baptist Church, 11 N. Main, Street, S. Hadley, MA at 1:00 o'clock.
