Dennis Brannegan

Dennis Brannegan, age 50, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Dennis grew up in Virginia Beach, a place that shaped who he was and where his love for the ocean began. Over the years, he also lived in Florida and California, but no matter where he was, the water was always home. He loved everything about the ocean—especially surfing and fishing—and felt most alive when he was on or near it.

As a teenager, Dennis worked as a mate on charter fishing boats, beginning a lifelong connection to life at sea. In Florida, he became a boat captain, spending his days taking people parasailing and sharing his joy for the water with others. He was also a skilled carpenter who loved working with his hands and took pride in building and creating things himself.

Dennis had a big, warm smile and an easy presence. He could light up any room he walked into, and people were naturally drawn to his kindness and spirit.

He is survived by his father; his four sisters; two aunts; and his beloved son, who meant the world to him.
