Dennis Milton Marshall, 76, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, surrounded by his three sons in the city he called home.
Born December 16, 1949, in Boston, MA, to Harold and Beatrice Marshall, Dennis was well loved and known for his cheerful disposition.
He attended Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Wilbraham, MA, where he distinguished himself as both a scholar and an athlete. He later attended Harvard University, majoring in economics.
A lifelong lover of the sea, Dennis found his greatest peace on the water. A master scuba diver and skilled boat captain, he spent time living in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he was happiest and earned the affectionate nickname "Captain D."
Dennis is survived by his three sons: French Scott Marshall (mother, MaryAnn French), Jordan Marshall (wife, Gabrielle Howard), and Romare Marshall (mother, Eileen Cave); his brother, Stephen Marshall (wife, Judy; children, Stephanie Marshall-Horry (husband, Jamal Horry) and Jason Marshall; and grandson, Jackson Horry); his sister, Lorraine Marshall (children, Gina Physic and Erik Davis; and grandson, Enoch Ra-El); and many extended family members and lifelong friends.
A private service will be held later this year, when his sons release his ashes into the sea in St. Thomas.
In lieu of gifts or a service, donations in Dennis' memory may be made to the Johns Hopkins Alzheimer's Disease Research Center: https://alzresearch.org/giving/
