Dennis Patrick Melvin

Dennis Patrick Melvin, aged 76, passed away on April 5, 2026, in Johns Island, SC. Born on March 8, 1950, Dennis was known for his easygoing spirit and uniquely warped sense of humor.
Dennis proudly served in the US Navy from 1969 to 1972, dedicating himself to his country during a pivotal time. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a truck driver, navigating both long distances and local routes with dedication and resilience.
He was a devout member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Johns Island, SC, where he found great solace and community. Dennis's personal life was enriched by his hobbies, which included reading his Bible, meticulously tending to his Bonsai trees, and cherishing time at his mountain home. Above all, spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Mary Melvin; his daughter, Erin Melvin; his son, Sean Melvin; grandchildren, Makayla Melvin, Hayley Melvin, Payton Melvin, Sophie Jones, and Omari Jones; sister, Mary Anne Melvin; and brother, William Melvin. He was preceded in death by his father, Valentine A. Melvin; mother, Mary K. Melvin; and brother, Kevin Melvin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3871 Betsy Kerrison Pkwy, Johns Island, SC. A burial and Celebration of Life will follow at a later date. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4-8 pm at their family home, 2655 Bohicket Rd, Johns Island, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warrior Foundation in memory of Dennis Melvin.
