Dr. Dennis R. Mosier, 63 of Houston TX, died on March 2, 2026 at Methodist Hospital after nearly a year long battle with cancer.
Dennis was born on September 11, 1962 to Kenneth and Lillian (June) Mosier. He was raised in Brooksville, FL and received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He worked as a Neurologist at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, contributing to advances in important medical research. He was also an Associate Professor of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Smith, brother-in-law Jack Schuman, son Dean Mosier, and nephew Ted Smith.
He is survived by his son Andrew Mosier, sister Pearl Schuman, brother-in-law Gary Smith, niece Kathy (Pete) Barry, niece-in-law Jane Smith, great nieces and nephews Emily (Austin) Leupp, Luke Barry, Elana (Anthony) Taylor, Erin Barry, Brandon (Natalie) Smith, Zach (Michaela) Smith, Rachel Smith, Anna Smith, and great-great nieces and nephews Elora, Felicity, Alaric, Honor, Valor, and Adamar Leupp, Katie, Abby, and Lincoln Smith, Blaire and Wrenley Duryea, and Rowan Scott.
Dennis was a beloved member of his church, First Methodist Houston. He enjoyed spending any spare time cooking authentic Texas cuisines, and going on long hikes through beautiful and often fairly treacherous portions of God's Creation. He enjoyed sharing his awe of the LORD'S majesty by posting artistic photography of his countless wildlife encounters and breath taking scenery, via social media.
Along with these things, Dennis will be remembered for his brilliant mind and heart for understanding and teaching medicine. Above all, he will be eternally known and recognized as a faithful servant of The Lord Jesus Christ, Who blessed him with these many gifts and the love of his family, friends, and colleagues.
In his honor, we ask that in lieu of flowers, if anyone feel lead, please contribute to St. Jude Hospital. Dennis held this hospital near to his heart as it is where a great niece received care.
