Dennis "Denny" Ray Steiger, 74, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the Henry Rehab and Nursing Facility, with his son Cole Steiger and his daughter in law Ashley by his side.
Born on November 23, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, Denny was the son of Darwin and Mary (Schmitt) Steiger. Denny was a graduate of Richwoods High School, Class of 1969.
Denny was a "gentle giant" and loved by many. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. On Sundays he could be found in his camo recliner watching his Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson (Bryant) and grand-dog (Emma). He had the biggest sweet tooth and could often be found in the Dairy Queen drive thru!
Denny is survived by his son, Cole (Ashley) Steiger of Edelstein; his beloved grandchildren, Kayla and Bryant; his favorite mealtime companion/ grand-dog Emma.
He is also survived by three siblings, their spouses, several nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Mary (Schmitt) Steiger.
Denny made the selfless decision to donate his body for scientific research to hopefully one day find a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). His wish was to save at least one person/ family from having to go through this. Once research is completed cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of life will be held January 24th at the Peoria Casting Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
