DeWayne “Babe” Titus

1947 - 2026

DeWayne “Babe” Titus Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at UC Davis Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.
Babe was born on October 5, 1947, in Oakland, California, to DeWayne Titus and Florence Titus Danley. He graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1965 and soon after answered the call to serve his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1965 to 1968, including a tour in Vietnam. His years in the Marines reflected the strength, loyalty, and quiet resilience that would remain hallmarks of his character throughout his life.
Following his military service, Babe joined his father and brothers in the family business, Steelgard, Inc. where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He valued hard work, family, and the pride that came from building something lasting alongside those he loved.
In retirement, Babe embraced life fully. He found great joy in traveling the world with his beloved wife, Claudia, creating treasured memories together across many places and experiences. He also had a lifelong passion for golf, a game that brought him both friendship and joy. Though he played courses around the world, his heart always returned to Brookside Golf & Country Club, where he especially cherished time spent on the course with dear friends.
Babe was preceded in death by his parents, DeWayne Titus and Florence Titus Danley; his wife, Kathleen Titus; his son, Frank Titus; and his brother, Danny Titus.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Claudia Titus; his daughter, Victoria Titus-Gecsek; his brothers, Bill Titus (Kay) and Bernon Danley (Donna); his stepsons, Roby Kolding (Melissa) and Kelly Kolding (Oana); his grandchildren, Kathleen Gonsalves, Connor Gonsalves, Caroline Gonsalves, Tommy Titus, Kyle Titus, Mathew Titus, Nadia Kolding, Hailey Kolding, and Max Kolding; as well as five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will continue to carry his memory forward with love.
In accordance with Babe’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Life for family and friends is being planned for a later date, when loved ones may gather to honor and remember the life he lived so well. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
