Diane Baty (née Hartsook), age 68, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on November 29, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, Diane lived a life marked by unwavering love, generosity, and faith.
Diane began her professional journey at Winn-Dixie, where she dedicated approximately fifteen years of service. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence later led her to roles at First Tennessee Bank for nineteen years and Clayton Homes, where she worked for ten years. Throughout her career, Diane was known for her diligence and dedication—qualities that reflected the same compassion and care she extended to everyone around her.
A woman of deep faith, Diane was of the Baptist tradition and held a steadfast belief in her Lord and Savior. Even in her final days, she shared with those around her the peace she felt in knowing where she was going. Her spiritual strength was a guiding light not only for herself but also for those who knew and loved her.
Diane's heart belonged first and foremost to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Leighann (Chris) and Jennifer Jeremiah; her cherished grandson Noah Loposser; and her sister Linda McGhee. She also leaves behind nieces Heather (Orlando) Esquibel and Susie Lake; nephew Joshua McGhee; and special friends George Beets, Yvonne Jones, Scott (Jackie) Blair, and Kay (Kyle) Bunch.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl Baty; parents Roy and Roxie Hartsook; brother Roy Hartsook Jr.; and niece Jennifer Lipowski.
To know Diane was to be embraced by kindness. She had a heart that gave freely—if you needed something and she had it, it was yours. Her selflessness knew no bounds. Whether through a warm smile or an act of quiet generosity, Diane made sure those around her felt seen and loved. Her sweet spirit left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Among the many blessings in Diane's life were two especially dear to her: her daughter Leighann and grandson Noah. Their bond was unbreakable. Noah wasn't just a grandchild—he was Diane's constant companion, often seen by her side wherever she went. Their closeness brought joy not only to them but also to everyone who witnessed their special connection.
Diane will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on through the love she gave so freely and the lives she touched with grace.
May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. A Memorial Service will be held on January 8, 2026, from 06:00 PM to 07:30 PM at Living Water Missionary Baptist Church 3315 E Emory Rd., Knoxville, TN 37938
