Diane Marie Mathey, remembered for her boundless energy and love of her family, was born on September 21,1949 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Morris O. Carlson and Rose V. Carlson.

Diane was a graduate of Luther South High School. She married Burton W. Logan in 1968, having two daughters, Michelle Lynn and Laura Ann. She had a successful career in sales, selling automobiles for many years followed by real estate in the Chicagoland area. With Diane's ability to sell to nearly anyone because of her outgoing nature, her family often quipped she could sell ice to a penguin. She was married to Gary Mathey (d. 2018) from 1986-1992.

A lifelong Chicagoan, Diane moved to sunny Scottsdale, Arizona in 2020 with her trusted companion Lacey, her black lab.

Diane cherished her Swedish heritage. She loved to travel and garden. Her daughters have many memories of her gardens in their childhood homes, growing tomatoes and herbs. In later life she could always be found spending time tending to multiple pots of succulents and cacti and constantly making new plants from cuttings to give away to family and friends. Diane also loved to read, go to concerts and the theater, and enjoy social time on the town with friends. She had more than a passing interest in the stock market and could speak at length about current events and politics. She had an uncanny sense of style, often drawing admiring glances or exclamations from others.

Diane was known for her desire to help friends. She was constantly asking how she could help with or provide something needed. She often volunteered to run errands for friends and family and felt connected to people when she was helping support them in their lives. She seemed to have a never-ending supply of energy and was always on the go or planning her next adventure.

Her family was central to her and valued above all else. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her daughters and granddaughters. She adored spending time with them in all forms: listening to them perform music, watching them compete in sports, shopping, going to the park or going out to eat. Her family will cherish many fond memories of vacations together and time spent playing games, baking, and going to the theater.

Diane passed peacefully beside her beloved Lacey and is survived by her daughters, Michelle Logan (partner Dale Lowdermilk) and Laura (husband Aaron) Martin and her granddaughters, Ella and Victoria (Tori).
