Dildreth Carlton Glover (Dill, Pop-pop), born May 20, 1932, to James Troy Glover and Clifford Idell (nee Banks), was called to his eternal home on March 2, 2026. His wife and high school sweetheart, Vaunita (nee Spencer), predeceased him in 2018.

He is survived by his children; James Glover (Christine) of Jacksonville, FL., and Gary Glover (Wanda) of St. Augustine, FL., and Deborah Linton (William) of Tallahassee, FL.: grandchildren; Alisha Linton, Carson Linton (Yunxia), Amy Kimble (David), Loren Peres (Steven), Sarah Amador (Joshua): and his great-grandchildren; Cid, Parker, Sophie, Ellie, Jonah, Adelyn, and Ella Christine.

The second youngest child of a large, mixed family, Dill was not born into wealth or luxury. With his father's passing when Dill was a young teenager, he had to work while attending school to help support the family. After marrying and starting his own family, Dill worked as a track laborer in the sweltering Florida sun. The strenuous labor helped him develop into the broad-shouldered man he was. His strength and stamina, and abstinence from alcohol and cigarettes, were surely factors in his long life.

During his later working years, Dill held careers in law enforcement and the railroad industry. As Sergeant of Traffic, he supervised traffic enforcement for the Fort Pierce, FL Police Department. He was also a competitive marksman, earning the Master Marksman designation on the departmental pistol team.

After leaving public service, he became a special agent for the Florida East Coast Railway during the tumultuous and sometimes violent nine-year labor strike. His last position with the Florida East Coast was Roadmaster of track maintenance. He finally retired as a State of Florida railroad track inspector.

Over his ninety-three years, Dill Glover was an avid photographer, fisherman, marksman, rose grower, and Bible student. He taught Sunday Bible Study classes at Immanuel Baptist Church, Tallahassee, FL, and served on the diaconates of Ancient City Baptist Church, St. Augustine, FL, and Immanuel Baptist Church. Two of Dill's favorite sports were debating theology and swapping stories. His children and in-laws were often participants.

Most of all, Pop-pop loved his children and perhaps even more, his grandchildren. He leaves a big hole in our hearts and lives because he was a big man in faith and love. We love you, Dad.

Proverbs 17:6

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged,
and the glory of children is their fathers. (ESV)
