Dolores A. Meader
Dolores A. Meader was born on November 9, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Oscar Elmer Anderson and Signe Clara Person. From the beginning, she carried a quiet strength and warmth that made people feel cared for. She passed on February 14, 2026, departing on Valentine's Day, fitting for a woman whose life embodied the power of love. Growing up in Chicago, Dolores graduated from Augustana and North Park College with degrees in education, inspiring her to stress the importance of learning to all she met.
On August 18, 1956, Dolores married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Meader. Together they built a beautiful life centered on love, hard work, and laughter. They raised three children, Nancy Claire, Susan, and Daniel, and instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, faith, and caring for one another. Bob passed away in 2009, Nancy Clarie passed in 1999, and her brother, Vernon Anderson, passed in 2017. It brings comfort to know they are all now reunited.
Family was at the center of Dolores's heart. She is survived by her children, Susan and Daniel, and her grandchildren, Hannah, Zach, Larissa, and Audrey. The love they shared lives on in the stories, laughter, and traditions that continue to bring them together.
The Meader family moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1964 and for 62 years Dolores became a deeply loved part of the community. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, where she lived out her beliefs through service, hospitality, and steady presence. She led small groups, encouraged others in their spiritual walk, and showed what a life of grace, prayer, and commitment looked like.
Dolores was never one to sit on the sidelines. She generously gave her time and talents to many organizations over the years. She was active in Camp Fire Girls, serving as President and helping shape the lives of young women through mentorship and example. She supported the Young Musicians Foundation, contributed her insight to an investment club, and poured into church and community small groups. She always believed in the potential of others and cheered them on.
Dolores had a gift for bringing people together, and her gatherings were cherished by family and friends. Whether it was a holiday, a milestone, or simply a reason to be together, she found joy in the details that made everyone feel welcome. She believed deeply in the power of prayer, and many will remember the comfort of knowing Dolores was faithfully lifting them up in quiet, heartfelt conversations with God. Through the power of prayer, Dolores successfully overcame many adversities, including the death of her daughter, and poor vision later in life.
A memorial service to honor Dolores will be held at St. Andrew UMC on Saturday, March 14, at 1:30 PM, (9203 S. University Blvd Highlands Ranch, CO 80126) with a gathering to follow at the church. All are welcome to join in celebrating her life.
