In Loving Memory of Dolores Rohman Wittwer
August 5, 1927 - February 11, 2026
Dolores Rose Rohman Wittwer, a resident of Houston for over 55 years, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was 98 years old.
Dolores was born on August 5, 1927, to William Francis Rohman and Rose Marie Eckerle. She was raised in Saint Louis, Missouri, alongside her siblings Kenneth, Marcella, and Donald. On August 7, 1948, she married Robert James Wittwer Sr., and they began to travel for his job, first in the United States and then internationally.
During Bob's career with Exxon, Dolores expertly navigated the challenges and joys of international living. While raising their children, they lived for six years in Talara, Peru, and two years in Sungei Gerong, Indonesia. Even after Bob's death in 1987, her adventurous spirit remained undiminished. She continued to explore exotic locations worldwide with her friends and remained an active member of her traveling bowling league well into her 70s.
A devoted Catholic, Dolores was defined by her fierce determination to care for her family and her reputation as a loyal, outgoing, and trusted friend. She was an avid reader who found her greatest happiness in her family. In her final years, she was blessed to have all five of her children living near the Houston area.
Dolores is survived by her beloved children: Lynda Wittwer, Robert (Julie) Wittwer, Barbara Viola, Mike Wittwer, and Richard Wittwer; five grandchildren: Alan Viola, Laurel (Jeremy) Dodds, Rachel Erickson, Maggie (Nate) Mason, and Aubrie (Zach) Worsley; and 17 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all those who were blessed to know her.
Following a long-standing family tradition, her body has been dedicated to medical science.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 9:30 A.M. Monday March 9th, 2026 at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, TX 77080.
