Dolores May Olsen (Tooter) Andrus was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 1, 1926. Her parents were Frank Aroy, of full Norwegian descent, and Nora May Burt Olsen, of full Scottish descent. She grew up in Holladay, Utah, where she attended Holladay Elementary, Irving Jr. High, and Granite High School. She was the last of eight children and was partly raised by her oldest sister Gladys Livingston. She attended Pasadena Jr. College for awhile, then returned to Utah, where she met Willis Jacob Andrus. They were married on June 13, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Throughout their married life they lived in several places; Wyoming, Oklahoma, Utah, California, and back to Utah, where they opened the first Wienerschnitzel in the state. She loved living in Glendora, California, and especially the beach. Will and Dee, as she was called, had five children; Lorraine Andrus Bolt, Madalyn Andrus, Neil Olsen Andrus, Byron Loyal Andrus (Kay), and Maureen Andrus. She lived with her daughters Maddie and Maureen, who were her main caretakers.
She passed away on the morning of March 24, 2026, a few months shy of 100. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will, her siblings, Gladys, Burt, Marion, Pete, Jay, Don, and Margaret, and great grandchild Stevie Ann. She had nineteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. She and Will both donated their bodies to the University of Utah for medical research. She requested, when the time comes, to have her ashes scattered on Loch Lomand in Scotland. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
