Dominique “Dom” Colburn Smith, 32, of Las Vegas, Nevada, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2025. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished son, an incredible brother, and a loyal friend to many.

Dominique was born on April 28, 1993, to Marvin Smith and Ramona Chatman. He grew up on the east side of Las Vegas, where he formed lifelong bonds with his Sunrise Heights teammates and friends — relationships that remained meaningful throughout his life.

Dominique was talented in everything he pursued. In his youth, he participated in the First AME Young People’s Department where he consistently served within the church congregation. Whether he was sketching effortlessly in a notebook, playing pickup games at Lewis Park, dominating on the wrestling mat, or competing on the track, he excelled. Football, however, was his greatest passion. Dominique was a star both on and off the field—the brightest of them all.

He graduated from Las Vegas High School in 2011, where he received both the Most Improved Student Award and the Principal’s Award. His athletic abilities earned him several college football offers, and he ultimately went on to play at Feather River College in Quincy, California.

After college, Dominique returned to Las Vegas and worked at UPS, Sun Delivery, EOS Fitness, and his favorite store of all—Ross. In every role, he was a dedicated and dependable employee. He arrived early, stayed late, and formed genuine connections with everyone he met. Dominique was a true social butterfly; this was one of his most admired qualities.

No matter how busy life became, Dominique always made time for football. He could always be found on the field or in the gym. He spent many weekends with his Rumble teammates or playing with Kryptonite in the A7 Football League. One of his proudest accomplishments was signing a professional arena football contract with the Las Vegas Kings of the American Indoor Football League.

On December 12, 2024, Dominique married the love of his life, Erinn Thomas-Smith. Together, they have two handsome sons: Evann Troy Hightower, age 7, and Ethan James Smith, age 1. Dominique treasured every moment with his boys—playing at the park, watching movies, and teaching Evann how to play video games. Above all else, he aspired to be an exceptional husband and father. Recently, Dominique and his family relocated to Houston, Texas, where he and Erinn planned to plant roots and raise their family.

Dominique had an infectious spirit and a vibrant, unforgettable smile. He brought life and joy to every space he entered and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Erinn Thomas-Smith; his children, Evann Troy Hightower and Ethan James Smith; his parents, Marvin (Bonnie) Smith and Ramona (Daniel) Chatman; siblings, Dominic Greene, Byron Smith, and sister Angelique Chatman.

He also leaves behind his grandfather, Evertte Wilson of Las Vegas, bonus grandmother, Ruby Spivey of Las Vegas, NV and his great-grandmother, Thelma Goldwire of Clyo, Georgia.

He also leaves several in-laws, including Mother-in-Law, April Roberts of Columbus, OH; Father-in-Law, James Thomas III of Warren, OH; and two Brother-in-Laws, Pavone Wise and Pierce Wise, both of Columbus, OH.

Dominique is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends — he leaves a community of loved ones near and far.

Dominique was preceded in death by his grandparents, Estella Smith-Wilson and Reverend James and Sally Stewart.

A private viewing was held on December 26, 2025, in Houston, Texas. A memorial service honoring Dominique will take place on January 17th, 2026 at 11:00 am at First AME Church, 2446 Revere St, North Las Vegas, NV 89030 where all are welcome to come and celebrate his life.
