Don Sloan Brown, 77, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas. Born on October 27, 1948, in Brady, Texas. Don grew up in Marble Falls, Texas. In 1976 he married Nancy Brown and together they raised five children. He owned and operated a dry-cleaning business in Georgetown, Texas. Those who knew him understood that his favorite part of the job was never the dry-cleaning, it was the conversations.
Don was a man who believed that love was the highest calling. He lived by the conviction that “our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy.” This belief shaped every aspect of his life and left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. Whether through a warm smile to a stranger or steadfast loyalty to a lifelong friend, Don never gave up on anyone. His legacy of unconditional love and limitless forgiveness lives on in the hearts of all who crossed his path.
A man of quiet wisdom and spiritual curiosity, Don spent much of his life seeking a deeper understanding of God. He remained open to new insights that he believed were divinely inspired and welcomed conversations that explored the mysteries of faith with humility and wonder.
Nature was Don’s sanctuary. He felt most alive outdoors, walking or hiking in the woods, swimming at Hippie Hollow and soaking up the Texas sun. He expressed his creativity through gardening and landscaping, often collecting little treasures he found along the way, like stones, shells, driftwood and other keepsakes that he found beauty in. Sometimes his favorite place was his bench outside with a cup of coffee, a book, or a friend. As much as he loved nature, nothing brought him more joy than his children and grandchildren. He never missed a chance to share how proud he was of them.
Don leaves behind his children: Katie Brown, Kristin and Chris Graham, Kari and Matt Archer, Kevin and Lindsay Brown, and Kaylan and Jesse Diederich; his close friend Mark Pritchard; his grandchildren, Joanne, Shelby, Noelle, Tessa, Elijah, Lincoln, Sawyer, and Jackson; his siblings Rebecca Nunnally and Dale Brown; his cousins, Ron Hill and Jeannette Hill-Bradfield, and numerous other family members.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Brown; his sister Sharon Brown; his mother Mary Katherine Brown; and his father Thomas Quimby Brown.
Don’s presence was one of peace and warmth. He never met a stranger and made everyone feel seen and valued. His life was not measured by accolades but by the countless lives he touched with kindness. He was a little magical and a little weird in the best possible way - the kind of person who moved through the world on his own wavelength and invited the rest of us to do the same.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Don’s memory to the Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases at UT Health San Antonio, Texas. https://biggsinstitute.org/give/
