Donald "Don" Vance Collins, 87 passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, in Las Vegas, NV. Born on February 20, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Erwin Collins and Estella Dague, he was one of twelve children.

Don lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, his country, his career, and his many interests. Friendly and outgoing, he enjoyed meeting and talking with people. He had a natural gift for conversation and truly never met a stranger. His warm smile, quick wit, and playful jokes and rhymes brought laughter to those around him and will be dearly missed. Known for his physical strength, he was a big, strong presence in the lives of those who knew him and at the same time admired for his kind, loving heart. He was always available to give a helping hand when needed.

Don's early years were spent on his family's farm in Iowa, where he learned the value of hard work and perseverance.

Don proudly served his country as a rifleman in the United States Marine Corps from February 1956 to March 1962. Stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, he earned a Good Conduct Medal and was discharged under honorable conditions—a testament to his discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment. Following his military service, Don built a successful career as a business owner. He opened two custom drapery locations in California before expanding his ventures to Las Vegas. Known for his craftsmanship and keen eye for detail, he trained custom drapery installers and mentored many in his trade, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and friends.

Don's life was enriched by a wide array of hobbies and interests that reflected his enthusiasm for life. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and a devoted supporter of the Las Vegas Raiders. He enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, water skiing, bowling, and dancing. A skilled handyman, he could fix nearly anything—including installing car engines. He also had an appreciation for artwork, antique clocks and music.

Family was at the heart of Don's life. He enjoyed spending time with family. Above all, he was devoted to his wife of 45 years, Judy, and treasured spending time with her, whether traveling or simply being at home together with their cat Uggie.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 45 years, Judith Collins; son James Collins and wife Nancy; daughter Dawn Mosher and husband James; step-son Ron Bilodeau and wife Marie; step-daughter Marti Martinez and husband Joseph; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Linda Collins and brothers Ronald Collins and wife Paula and Gerald Collins and wife Linda.
