Donald Wilfred "Clicker" McCray, 83, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. Born on January 28, 1943, in Roanoke, Virginia, Donald lived a full and meaningful life marked by his dedication to family, friends, and his passions.
A graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Donald embarked on a successful career in the office supply industry. He worked for many years as an office supply salesman and was recognized for his excellence by being named Salesman of the Year multiple times. Later in his career, he became a co-owner of Office Suppliers Inc. (OSI), a business he proudly built alongside two partners. His professional achievements were a testament to his hard work and determination.
Donald's life was enriched by his love for golf, where he celebrated one of his proudest moments—a hole-in-one in 2002. He also cherished time spent with his beloved pets—Miki, Missy, Sally, Mister, Honey, and Skeeter—who brought him endless joy over the years. In his younger days, Donald was actively involved in the JC's and the Boy Scouts, organizations that reflected his commitment to community and personal growth.
Above all else, Donald valued the relationships he cultivated throughout his life. He was known for his kindness and generosity—a man who truly cared for those around him. His family held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his brother David A. McCray and wife Diana; daughter Mary E. "Betsy" Hill and husband Shawn; stepdaughter Sarah Pettit; stepson Justin Pettit and wife Debbie; and son Todd McCray as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his parents Wilfred Luther McCray and Dorothy Inez Davis McCray; his wife Sallie Crafts McCray; daughter Julie McCray Moore.
Donald expressed deep gratitude for the love and care he received from those closest to him as he aged. In words he wrote himself: "You have made my life wonderful and happy. You took care of me as I grew old and made sure I was taking care of myself—and when I couldn't—you took care of me. I have always loved you all and did my best to make you happy and safe."
He wished for simple arrangements filled with laughter and storytelling—memories shared among friends and family that reflect the good times they had together. Donald also extended heartfelt thanks to dear friends David and Rhonda, Tony, Ron, Sandra, and Maureen for their unwavering support.
