1937 - 2025

Donald Montano, 88, passed away peacefully on Dec 6, 2025, at approximately 2:20 pm while in hospice care at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by friends and his fiancé Amelia Murgio Ostrosky while listening to the memorable song "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. Donald was born July 10,1937, to the late Dominick and Freida Montano of Enfield, CT.

Donald was a trailblazer, known for his dedication and ambition. As one of the first electron beam welders in the US, he began his career at Hamilton Standard. In 1970, he founded his own EB welding company, Acceleron, Inc., in the garage of his Pleasant Valley home. His vision and hard work led the company to grow rapidly, eventually relocating to East Granby, CT in 1974, where three generations of the Montano family have proudly continued to build on his legacy. Donald's passion and commitment have left an indelible mark on his family and the industry.

Don was a man whose boundless energy and passion inspired everyone around him. After retiring to the sunny shores of Jupiter, Florida, he continued to embrace life with enthusiasm, engaging in a variety of projects and hobbies. Don was a published author, health and wellness enthusiast, tennis player and avid world traveler, and he poured his heart into everything he did. Don's joy and wholehearted zest for life will leave a lasting impact on all who knew and loved him.

Donald is survived by his three children, sons Lance and Rory Montano and his daughter Dawn Dawick of Connecticut; his sister Eleanor Connolly of Maryland his five grandchildren Nicole Knudsen, Jamie Gilbert, Ryan Montano, Austin Montano, and Conrad Montano of Connecticut; and his four great grandchildren Brayden Thompson, Kye Knudsen, Sage Gilbert, and Fayelina Gilbert of Connecticut; and his longtime companion and fiancé of 21 years, Amelia Murgio Ostrosky of Florida.

Donald was predeceased by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Gail Montano, and his brothers Leonard (Lenny) Montano, and Nick (Nicky) Montano.
