Donald (Don) Alan Neeley of Kirkwood, MO died January 28, 2026. Born April 14, 1946, in El Campo, TX and raised in Palacios, TX, attending Palacios ISD schools, graduating from High School in 1965. Don joined the United States Air Force in 1966, serving as a fire fighter, while deployed to South Korea during the Vietnam Conflict and was discharged in 1969. Don met Patty in 1968, and they married in Kirkwood, MO in 1970.
Don and Patty moved to Springfield, Il where Don attended Sangaman State University in Springfield, IL, obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in Management in 1979. Don worked in Data Processing for the State of Illinois. In 1979, Don accepted a job with the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, bringing Don and Patty back to Missouri, and buying a home in Fenton. Don later took a job at Centerre Bank, then McDonnell Douglas, all in Data Processing/IT capacities, eventually working in sales and as an independent contractor in the IT field, ending his career path working in the insurance and securities field. Along the way, Don obtained his MBA from Lindenwood University in 1984.
Don took great pride in his volunteer life, contributing much of his time to the Boy Scouts of America, at the local troop level then also regionally. Don held positions such as Assistant Scoutmaster, District Commissioner, JLTC staff, Wood Badge Scoutmaster, Train the Trainer, District Vice Chair, and awarded the District Award of Merit; the Silver Beaver as well as was tapped out for the Order of the Arrow.
Don also gave time to his longtime home parish of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Fenton, MO. Don served as the Men's Club President, Chairman of the ADA, taught in PSR, and was a Eucharistic minister and Lector & Commentator.
Don was also a very skilled jack of all trades; a DIYer, as well as a great woodworker, knot tyer, wood carver, cook & grill-master and a fare mechanic in his younger days.
Don is survived by the love of his life, his soulmate, his wife; Patricia A (Bull) Neeley of 55 plus years, as well as his 3 children; Virginia (Michael) Young of House Springs, MO, Jonathan (Star) Neeley of Palm Coast, FL, and Amy (Quentin) Sehie of Byrnes Mill, MO. He is the youngest son of the youngest son, as he would like to say, born to the late Robert & Beulah (Poulson) Neeley of Palacios, TX. Don is survived by his brother Jimmy (Mary Jo) Neeley of Palacios, TX and is preceded in death by siblings Clara (the late Walter) Kreuzer, Evelyn (the late Elvin) Baker, Robert (the late Mary Evelyn) Neeley, Melvin Neeley, and Norris (Lois) Neeley.
Don's greatest pride was becoming a grandfather to Cecilia, Cody, Benjamin, Amanda, Zachary & Lacey. His grandchildren were his treasures, his reward he would say. Don also has much extended family; nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws & friends he was so very grateful for and proud of everyday and loved beyond measure.
There will be a Memorial Mass for Don at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Kirkwood, MO on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Backstoppers at Backstoppers.org, or donate to your parish or St. Peter's parish for masses to be said for Don.
