Donald Dean Sundquist

Donald "Don" Dean Sundquist, 70, of Blue Hill, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Hastings, Nebraska. Born on February 27, 1955, in Alma to Milford and Bessie Sundquist, Don was raised on a farm east of Huntley. He attended Huntley School and graduated from Republican City High School in 1973. Following high school, Don embarked on a career that would see him dedicate over two decades to Walmart, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many, especially during his last six years at the Hastings, Nebraska location.
Don was known for his quiet and polite demeanor, but those close to him delighted in his hidden mischievous streak. Friends fondly recall how Don would always have an unexpected clever comeback ready during breaks, his subtle humor brightening even the busiest days and making work a little lighter for everyone around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Bessie Sundquist, and his brother, Gerald Sundquist. Don is survived by his siblings: Kay (Erick) Erickson of Funk, Sandra Sundquist of Holdrege, and Peggy Sundquist of North Platte. He is also survived by his closest friends, Matthew and Sonya Frickey of Blue Hill, who were like family to him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to his close friends Matt and Sonya Frickey at 510 W York St, Blue Hill, NE 68930, who will ensure Don's memory is honored and cherished by those who knew him.
A simple graveside service will be held at Bainbridge Cemetery, Huntley, Nebraska, on December 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
