Donald Wilson was born on July 2, 1953, in Hamilton, North Carolina, to the late William Walter Wilson and Emma Thompson Wilson. He peacefully departed this life on March 26, 2026, following a lengthy illness.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Earl Wilson, and his sister Ann Beckwith.
He was a proud graduate of Oak City High School, Class of 1971, and went on to attend Medgar Evers College, where he earned his degree in 1975. Shortly after completing his education, Donald worked briefly in radio before joining his sister Ann in managing one of her salons. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong sense of independence, he later ventured into business for himself, successfully operating several small businesses over the years.
In 1988, Donald was blessed with his beloved son, King (Donald Wilson, Jr.), who brought immense joy and pride to his life.
Despite facing significant health challenges later in life that affected his mobility, Donald never lost his vibrant sense of humor, his love for life, or his spiritual grounding. His strength, resilience, and ability to uplift others will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Minnie Grace Rogers of Brooklyn, New York, and Emma Curry of Brooklyn, New York; one son, King (Donald Wilson, Jr.) of Brooklyn, New York; two nieces, Beverlyn Rogers (Eric) of Brooklyn, New York, and Kahala Williams (Loring) of Odenton, Maryland; three nephews, Tracey Beckwith of Williamston, North Carolina, Terrance Curry of Brooklyn, New York, and Telford Curry of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of loving relatives and dear friends.
