Donna Lynn Balzano, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 1, 2025. She was born on February 15, 1956, in Camden, New Jersey. Donna lived a full and vibrant life rooted in family, faith, generosity, and a spirit that touched everyone she met.
Donna was one of nine and often spoke lovingly about her childhood memories with all of her siblings. She carried that same deep sense of family into adulthood, raising six children of her own with devotion and opening her heart and home to anyone who needed a place to feel loved. To know Donna was to feel like part of her family.
A devout Catholic, Donna lived her faith through service and selflessness. She would take the shirt off her back for anyone, never hesitating to give, to help, and to love without conditions. Her home was always open, her table always shared, and her kindness knew no limits.
Donna lived a remarkable and hardworking life. She worked as one of the only female pipe fitter and boilermakers of her time in New York and New Jersey, an accomplishment that spoke to her strength and determination. Later, she painted homes across Florida alongside her brother, Steve Olsen, and her daughter, Rebecca Olsen. She also nurtured her artistic side, spending countless hours painting artwork that reflected her creativity and joyful spirit.
Donna loved to sing and dance at every family gathering, bringing life, laughter, and energy to every room. She found peace in gardening, joy in sunbathing at the beach, and excitement in fun nights out with a gin and tonic in hand. Music was one of her great loves, especially the work of her favorite artist, Zucchero, whom she was thrilled to meet in person.
Her adventurous heart took her around the world. She cherished her travels to France to visit her brother Timothy, and she fell deeply in love with Pontremoli, Italy, exploring its beauty and the surrounding landscapes. Italy remained one of the places that made her feel most alive.
Donna's proudest role was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved children: Rachael Abbatelli, Audrey Hubbard , Joseph Hubbard (Gernive), Tess Pinto (Fabiano), Jude Hubbard (Sidnie) and Rebecca Olsen (Michael); her 17 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild, all of whom she adored beyond measure. She loved to brag about her family to friends old and new.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Balzano, with whom she shared many happy and meaningful years of marriage.
Donna's legacy is one of unconditional love, generosity, humor, strength, and an unbreakable bond with family. She lit up every room she entered and left a mark on every heart she touched. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the many lives she influenced.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
