Donna Lee Fike

Donna Lee Fike was born on February 18, 1940 to Dorothy and Blaine Fike, the oldest of 4 children. She is survived by her brother William Fike (Maureen), her sister Charlotte Brown (John), and her sister Cathy Fike (Robert). She will be missed by her 4 children, Steven (Saundra), Scott (Kathy), Craig (Joelle) and Susan (Abdul), 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her caregiver, Jen, deserves special thanks for adding joy and organization to Donna’s last few years.

Donna graduated from Elizabethtown High School in Elizabethtown, PA. Donna was a 1961 graduate of Lankenau Nursing school and worked as an RN in both hospitals and schools. At the age of 40, Donna earned her BS in nursing administration from Eastern University. Donna was a lifelong learner, and her favorite traveling adventures included participation in the Road Scholar programs.

Perhaps Donna’s most unique contribution was her initiation of a round-robin letter with her fellow nursing school classmates who were dubbed the name “Turtles”. The Turtles to this day maintain an amazing friendship and support network which has been a blessing to many, enjoying regular reunions and fellowship events. She moved to the Lutheran Senior Living Community at Topton, PA, in 2013, where a number of her Turtle friends already lived.

One of Donna’s personal ministries was to share God’s word through purchasing and sharing the book, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. She really loved its message. Although we don’t know the exact number, upwards of 50 copies were shared with her friends and family.

The only time Donna could be caught bragging would be in reference to her children and grandchildren, to whom she was always available for kind words of encouragement and wisdom. She will be deeply missed. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Donna lived in Audubon, PA and East Norriton, PA finally moving to The Lutheran Home in Topton.

There will be a Memorial Service in Donna’s memory, Saturday, February 21st in the Auditorium at the Lutheran Home at Topton in their church at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow.
