Donna Sue Johnson (Haberlach)

1949 - 2025

Donna Sue Johnson was called home by the Lord God Almighty on November 12, 2025 at the Lutheran Hospice in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Donna was born to Herbert Louis Haberlach, an Olympic wrestler, and Dorothy Jean Kilpatrick, a registered nurse, on August 22, 1949 in Corvallis while they were attending Oregon State College. Donna grew up on the family farm near Clackamas, in close proximity to her grandparents, aunts and uncles, attending Carver Elementary and Clackamas High in between her many farm chores. Favorite memories included a year spent with her aunt, uncle, and cousins, the Kilpatricks of John Day, in the 8th grade, and her senior year of high school spent in Sanct Arnold, Germany as an AFS exchange student with the Semmelroth family. She went on to earn a bachelor of arts in Chemistry Education at Oregon State, where she met her husband of 55 years, Floyd Johnson, on a blind date, much as her parents had first met many years before.

A devoted wife, and mother to Audrey, Holly Jean, and Douglas, Donna moved from Oregon to Washington, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, California, and Australia before settling with Floyd in Golden, Colorado to live out their golden years and visit their children and fourteen grandchildren across the country.

Donna loved family and kept in contact with her extended family through the years, also researching and chronicling the family tree and history of the Haberlach and Johnson families. Her detailed chronicles of her grandchildren's precious sayings and doings will be treasured for years to come. She was a dedicated member of her church community in every place she lived, leading the women's group at St. Philip Lutheran in Dublin, California for twenty years.

Donna is survived by her husband, Floyd Johnson; siblings Nancy and Mark Dickman, Lon and Marilyn Haberlach, and Karen and Glenn Derwin; children Audrey Johnson and Michael Timko, Holly Jean and Forest Grow, and Douglas Johnson and Susan Trepczynski; as well as her fourteen beloved grandchildren, Gabriel, Caleb, Miriam, Nicholas, Nina, Irini, George, Xenia, and James Grow, Linnea, Magdalena, Aurelia, and Elianna Timko, and Olivia Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 2745 NW Harrison Blvd., Corvallis, Oregon at 11am on Saturday, December 6, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna's honor may be sent to AFS Intercultural Programs USA, www.afsusa.org/donate
