Donna Marie Klehr of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on March 29, 2026. She was 96 years old and lived life to the fullest up to the end.
Donna’s early childhood experiences of being raised in the Catholic Church by parents of Irish ancestry would always be prevalent in her life. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She will be remembered for hosting dinners and celebrations at her home where family and friends were always welcomed. Donna had a love for reading, cooking, playing bridge and Jeopardy. She and her husband traveled the world, including six of the continents and most of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Donna was an avid Chiefs fan. When she wasn’t attending games, she was hosting Chiefs watch parties wearing her #16 Lenny Dawson jersey.
In Donna’s later years, she and her husband Bob would move to Lakewood in Lee’s Summit. There, Donna and Bob would become grandparents and always professed that those years were their happiest.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert L. Klehr, her son, Michael Klehr, her son-in-law, Charles Getto, and her siblings; Jean Rhodes, Bill McNellis, Betty Ann McNellis, Patsy White, and Larry McNellis. She is survived by her children Ann (Gary) Dercher, Carol Getto, Patti Klehr, Larry (Mindy) Klehr, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
