Mrs. Donna Marie Minnis (née Gilbert), age 86, of Cox's Creek, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026. Born to Virgil Gilbert, Sr., and Harriet Kall on May 16, 1939, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Donna lived a life filled with love, creativity and devotion to her family and community.

Donna's professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. In the 1970s, she taught computer key punching and later worked at General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky. Finally, Donna retired after fifteen years of dedicated service to Kroger in Bardstown, Kentucky. Her resourcefulness and talent extended beyond traditional employment; she also supported her family financially through her craft and ceramic creations.

For over three decades, Donna found joy and fulfillment in creating and painting ceramics in her beloved ceramic shop. This space became more than just a workshop—it was a haven of creativity, laughter and fellowship where she hosted classes and welcomed friends weekly. Her passion for crafts also led her to spend many weekends throughout the 1980s and 1990s at craft fairs alongside dear friends. Donna cherished these moments of connection and camaraderie.

A woman of deep faith, Donna gave her life to Christ in the 1970s. She was a devoted member of the Bardstown Church of God, where she once taught children's Bible classes. Her church community brought her immense joy and acceptance, fostering friendships that enriched her life profoundly.

Donna's warmth extended to all who knew her. She especially treasured visits from friends and conversations with neighbors, building lasting bonds within her community. Her sweet nature, sense of humor and caring spirit left an indelible mark on those around her.

Above all else, Donna loved her family deeply. She lived a life of sacrifice for her late husband Larry Minnis; their children Jennifer Minnis, Dennis Minnis and his wife Amy, and Jonathan Minnis; and grandchildren Emily and Anna Minnis. She is also survived by her brother David Hayes and his wife Gloria along with their children Stephen and Christopher; her sister Judy Odom; and sister-in-law Helen Brazee, wife of the late Glen Brazee.

Donna was predeceased by her father Virgil Gilbert, Sr., mother Harriet (Kall) Bailey, her beloved husband Larry Minnis, brother Dennis Gilbert and brother Sonny Gilbert.

Donna's legacy is one of love, faith, creativity and selflessness—a life that touched so many hearts. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Memorial Gathering will be held on March 21, 2026, with visitation from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Little Flock Baptist Church, 5500 N Preston Hwy, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, in the Theater, located in the LFCA school building behind the church. At 4:00 PM, we will gather for a worship service to celebrate the life of Donna and her faith in Christ Jesus. Family and friends of the Minnis family are invited and encouraged to attend this memorial service.
