Our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Donna Hope Tice, 87. passed away at home in San Luis Obispo, CA, on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Donna was born on October 1, 1938, in Barboursville, WV. She grew up as the fourth oldest of 10 children of Allen and Lillian (Meadows) Bledsoe on their rural Fudges Creek, West Virginia, farm. She was baptized into the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Ona, WV. Donna deeply loved and cherished her West Virginia heritage and roots. Although she usually denied it, she never quite lost the mountaineer twang in her voice.
Donna moved from West Virginia to Los Angeles, with her husband, Russell Tice, in 1960, then to San Luis Obispo in 1965. Donna relished her role as a loving wife and mother making a home for their family. She developed and enjoyed many hobbies and activities such as reading, knitting, puzzles, crafts, gardening, traveling, exercising and square dancing. She was proud to have worked at Sears for 25 years and retired as office manager in 2004.
Her husband of nearly 70 years survives along with her four loving children; Terry Lynn (Bryan) Ananian, Sandra Kay (Rob) Tice-Raskin, Jennifer Sue (Brian) Croutcher and Jeffrey Sean (Christina) Tice. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren that she loved so much; Allen, Savannah, Christopher, Aidan, Ashlynn, Connor, Andrew, Parker, Addison, Anthony, Nevaeh and Sean. She was blessed with three much adored great grandchildren: Cory, Caden and Cameron.
Surviving siblings include her cherished sister, Linda Carol (Merle) Stratton and brothers Keith Allen (Barbara) Bledsoe, Jay Bledsoe and Clarence Darrell (Gan) Bledsoe. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Paul (Joyce) Bledsoe, John (Beverly) Bledsoe and infant Dewey Bledsoe; sisters Kathleen (Harold) Ayers and Sally Jean (Danny) Chapman.
Donna and her family wish to express their appreciation for the kind efforts of Dr. Tom Spillane as well as all of the medical doctors, nurses and staff who helped during her illness. Special heartfelt thanks to Donna's longtime friend, Linda, and our neighbor friends. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to remember Donna with a donation, we especially support the valued work of Hospice, AIM at Melanoma Foundation or The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute.
