Donna Jane Wells, 68, of Victor, NY, passed away peacefully at Rochester General Hospital on January 4, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed. Donna was born in Canandaigua, NY and grew up in Honeoye Falls, NY and later Naples, NY. She achieved her GED and attended Community College of the Finger Lakes, Canandaigua, NY. She worked hard to support her family as a single mother, being employed at Widmer's Wine Cellar, Naples, NY and Home Properties based in Rochester, NY for the duration of her career. She especially loved her Lord Jesus Christ, her family, her cat "Kitty", and the many family reunions and gatherings over the years that drew the Wells and Merrill kin together. In later years, she was also fondly adopted by her son-in-law Warren Dillman's family and was often seen enjoying herself in the midst of their family gatherings, as well. Donna enjoyed crocheting, old classic movies, Bible study, taking country walks and reminiscing, and genealogy to which she dedicated many hours of research and writing that has left a lasting and meaningful legacy to us all, most notably, her published book of Tuisco Greiner - A Man Redeemed, the story of her industrious great grandfather. One of her favorite songs is "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole, and that is what Donna is to us - unforgettable!
Donna is survived by her daughter Ginger (Warren) Dillman of Victor, NY and 3 beloved grandsons: Allie Dillman of Bloomfield, NY, Owen Dillman of Bloomfield, NY, and Marcellus Hughes of Clifton Springs, NY. She will be greatly missed by her 4 siblings: Glenn (Marcia) Simpson of Sodus Shores, NY, Cora (Keith) Clement, Fort Wayne, IN, Jeffrey (Julie) Wells, Naples, NY, and Virginia (Jerry) Clawson of Naples, NY. There are 8 nieces and nephews who will also miss their Aunt Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Betty Wells of Naples, NY, her premature twin granddaughters Aleia and Marguerite Wells, her nephew Lemuel Clawson of Naples, NY, her sister-in-law Claudia Wells of Mainz, Germany, and her former son-in-law Eddie Hughes of Clifton Springs, NY.
In lieu of flowers and funeral home services, Donna would be pleased to see memorial contributions given to Alzheimer's Disease Research (brightfocus.org/ADRgift), or Lollypop Farm/Humane Society of Greater Rochester (lollypop.org), or Hospeace House of Naples (hospeacehouse.org).
