Dora Patricia Alcaine Myers, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother known for her kind, loving, and spunky personality, passed away at the age of 80 on January 11, 2026. Known to her family as Patricia, she passed away at UT Southwestern Medical Center, in Dallas, Texas, from complications following open heart surgery. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Patricia was born on October 3, 1945, to Adela Caceres de Alcaine and Guillermo Alcaine in San Salvador, El Salvador. She was the second youngest of seven siblings, including Guillermo, Eugenia, Carlos, Enrique, Carmen, and Victoria. At only 18 months of age, Patricia contracted Polio when the disease swept through the country. She was one of very few children that survived the illness in El Salvador at the time, and she often credited her grit, strength, and tenacity to this experience.
Patricia came to the United States in 1961 at the age of 16, where she attended George Washington High School in San Francisco. She later took night classes at a local junior college and became a paralegal, working first for the Law Offices of Merino & Moore, then for the Law Offices of Merino & Sutton, before finally opening her own company, Paralegal Plus, all the while, proudly working closely with immigrants acquiring legal citizenship through the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
At home, Patricia went on to have two daughters, Georgette Patricia Scott and Audrey Johanna Scott. She embraced the joys and challenges of raising two children as a single mother following the divorce from her first husband, George “Sonny” Scott. As she often said, her daughters were the apple of her eye, the cream in her coffee, the light of her life.
Always a businesswoman, Patricia opened up a restaurant, “El Burrito” in Sunnyvale, CA, and as fate would have it, a young NASA computer scientist would become a regular patron and eventually, the love of her life. George Myers would come in to play his guitar for a free meal on the weekends; their friendship and romance blossomed quickly, and they were married on June 29, 1985. They remained married for 40 years and spent their time travelling the world, sitting side by side while playing games on the computer, eating out at their favorite restaurants, binge watching their favorite tv shows, listening to their audiobooks on long roadtrips, and playing cards with their children and grandchildren. They divided their time between living in the United States and running their business, the Myers House Hotel in El Salvador.
Patricia opened her home to family, friends, and clients in need, always willing to welcome and house people she cared for. She truly never met a stranger, and never hesitated to say, “You can stay with us.” She frequently hosted family gatherings and loved being surrounded by friends and family, who she’d never call by name. Patricia came up with a nickname for everyone she loved. She wouldn’t call her family George, Georgette, Audrey, Brittni, Jerry; they were affectionately known as Bubu, Petu, Baba, Cheeky, Chubby, Boy Boy, and so many more. In return, she was known as Mommy, Mama, Grandma, Mama Pat, Tia Pat, Tia ‘Ticia, and Tia Tatara.
Patricia lived her life to the fullest, always appreciating every moment and delighting in her many passions and interests. She was passionate about the law and her career as a paralegal. She loved being a wife, a mother, and a grandmother and adored all the attention she received from her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a gifted host, always caring for others and making them feel like they were a part of her family. She enjoyed spending her time tending to her plants and flowers, visiting the casino, playing cards with her family while listening to Mamma Mia, and watching the Hallmark Channel while having her coffee and cookies.
Patricia is preceded in death by her mother, Adela Caceres de Alcaine; her father, Guillermo Matias Alcaine; her siblings, Jose Guillermo Alcaine, Angela Eugenia Alcaine Stillman, Jose Carlos Alcaine, Manuel Enrique Alcaine, and Maria Victoria Alcaine. She is survived by her husband, George Bernard Myers; her daughter, Georgette Patricia Kelly and husband Jerry Wayne Kelly; her daughter, Audrey Johanna Scott; her grandchildren, Brittni Jere Kelly and Jerry Patrick Kelly; and her sister, Carmen Elena Alcaine.
