Doris Camille Franklin (Norfolk), lovingly known throughout her life as D. Camille Franklin and Camille Norfolk Franklin, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, in her home in Auburn, California, surrounded by her sons and daughter-in-law. She faced both Alzheimer's disease and pancreatic cancer with extraordinary grace, resilience, and quiet courage.

Camille dedicated her entire career to teaching, shaping generations of students with her compassion, creativity, and unwavering commitment to learning. She approached every classroom with patience, artistry, and a deep belief in the potential of every child. Beyond her life as an educator, Camille expressed her creative spirit through painting, photography, and sewing. She found joy in her family and, whenever she was in the area, rarely missed a sporting event, performance, or school activity for her sons and grandchildren, treasuring the small, meaningful moments of everyday life.

Camille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl W. Franklin; her father, Edward "Ted" Sylvester Norfolk; and her mother, Mary Elaine Norfolk (formerly Walker). She is survived by her sons, Shawn Carl Franklin and Michael Edward Franklin; her daughters-in-law Laura Ann Franklin (wife of Shawn) and Sarah Pennell Franklin (wife of Mike); her grandchildren Amber Alene Franklin, Drew Michael Franklin, Nathan William Franklin, and Evan Michael Franklin; her step-grandchildren Ryan Jeffrey Miner and Amanda Lauren Miner; her great-grandson Kaiden Shawn Varner Boyd; and her step great-grandsons Gabriel Gerard Miner and Elijah Apollo Miner.

The family shares one of Camille's favorite poems—words that reflect the peace, hope, and faith she carried with her throughout her life:

"When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little—but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me—but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me—but let me go."

Camille will forever be remembered for her warmth, her artistry, her devotion to family, and her generous heart. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the love she shared so freely.
