Doris E. (Robbins) Thompson, 96, wife of the late Melvin H. “Pete” Thompson, died Monday, February 23, 2026, at Frederick Living, Upper Frederick Twp., PA. She was a former resident of Lower Providence Twp., PA.

Doris was born on January 26, 1930, in Norristown, PA, to the late Earl O. and Elizabeth M. (Krantz) Robbins.

Before retiring, Doris worked for Laser Magnetic Storage International, Norristown, PA.

Early in their marriage, Doris and her husband enjoyed bowling. They also enjoyed day trips and short vacations. A trip to Alaska is memorable because Pete was not a fan of flying or heights and it was one of their longest trips.

Doris took a baking class and became an avid baker, making wedding cakes for many family members and friends. Sundays were for preparing cakes, pies, rice pudding and other goodies to be eaten the following week. You could always find her tending to her flowers not only in the house, but those outside. She took a lot of pride in them.

Doris loved to socialize. After moving to Frederick Living, she made many friends volunteering and enjoying the events at Frederick. She was not afraid of technology and used the computer often to look up recipes and send emails. As she aged, naturally things slowed down but she still enjoyed movie nights, reading books, playing cards Friday night with her friends or playing bingo. Often when visiting you would catch her napping in her lazy boy recliner or watching whatever seasonal sports were on—bBaseball, football or golf.

Doris is survived by her son, David, companion to Barbara Cabot, Collegeville, PA; her granddaughter, Debra (Auman), wife of Adam Gamler, Gilbertsville, PA; her great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Auman; and her great-grandson, Corbin Gamler. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara, wife of Robert Auman, Gilbertsville.

A graveside service for Doris will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 28th, at Limerick Garden Of Memories, 44 E. Arcadia Dr., Limerick, PA, with the Rev. Thomas T. Kochenderfer, Pastor Emeritus, St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Audubon, PA, officiating. Arrangements are by Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., Trappe, PA.
