Dorland "The Moon" Henderson, age 78, born February 12, 1947, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Dorland A. Henderson and Thelma (née Horne) Henderson.
Dorland is survived by his devoted wife, Sophie Kosinski, and was previously married to Karen Henderson, mother of his sons Dorland E. Henderson II (Andrea) and Eric W. Henderson. He was the loving brother of Gail Henderson. He was also the proud grandfather of Jonathan, Joshua, Bailey, Bryce, and Trenton, and the cherished great-grandfather of Rowan. Dorland is further survived by his in-laws, whom he regarded as family, and by his many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his lifelong childhood friend, Hector Castro, whose memory he carried with him throughout his life.
A proud United States Army Veteran, Dorland honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. His service was a defining part of his life and a source of deep pride for his family.
Dorland was a man of many passions. He had a lifelong love for classic cars, motorcycles, and photography, and he could often be found tinkering with anything mechanical or electronic just to see how it worked. A true man's man, he had a natural ability to fix, build, and create—and he enjoyed every minute of it.
Known affectionately as "The Moon," Dorland was a classic joker with a sharp wit and a heart full of warmth. His sense of humor, unmatched love for a good dad joke, and his gift for easing any tense moment with a perfectly timed story made him the light of every room he entered. His silliness, charm, and storytelling created countless memories that his family and friends will forever cherish.
Dorland will be deeply missed, but his spirit, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will never be forgotten.
