Dorothy "Doris" Barron, 87, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Chesterfield, Virginia. Born on February 6, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Doris lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by family and friends.
Doris was the beloved wife of Joseph Barron, with whom she shared an extraordinary 66 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Theresa A. Davis, Joseph M. Barron, and Linda M. Glass (husband Andrew). Doris also leaves behind her sister Elaine Jurkofsky and was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. She played an instrumental role in raising them and treasured every moment spent with them. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, and friends who will deeply miss her presence. She was predeceased by her parents Ed & Irene and brother Edwin Chwal (2018).
Throughout her life, Doris called several places home. She spent many years in Pennsylvania before moving to South Florida, back to Pennsylvania and later settling in the suburbs of Richmond, Virginia. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she worshipped at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Philadelphia for over 25 years before becoming a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church after relocating to Virginia in 2007.
Doris had a deep love for flowers and gardening, finding peace and happiness among nature’s beauty. She also enjoyed weekend trips over the years with family and friends; Cape May, New Jersey held a special place in her heart as her "happy place." Her warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
