Dorothy Ann Cross passed away on April 15th, 2026, at the age of 86. Dorothy fought a courageous battle with cancer for over two years.
Dorothy was born in Colorado in 1939. She was the oldest of 10 children. She met the love of her life, Arthur Cross, while attending church. He was the bad-boy transplant from California, and she was smitten. After she graduated from Montrose High School and he returned from his military service, Dorothy and Arthur married on September 14th, 1958. The couple quickly relocated to California and welcomed their firstborn son, Robert Cross, in 1959; their son, Steve Cross, in 1961; and their daughter, Tamara Jorajuria, in 1963.
Dorothy’s lifelong career was as a bookkeeper, but her true passions were being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the steady, encouraging, gravitational force that kept her family together. She was a supportive mother, involved grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. Dorothy was an avid fan of Stone Cold Steve Austin, the SF Giants, Country music, reading mystery novels, and taking care of her dogs and family.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her son, Steve; and her daughter, Tami. She is survived by her son Robert, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 21st, at 10:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memory Gardens in West Salem, Oregon. The family asks that you reach out and share a memory that you have of Dorothy.
