Dorothy "Dottie" McNeil

1947 - 2026

Dorothy "Dottie" (Murray) McNeil, aged 79, passed away peacefully at her home in Plymouth on March 21, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was a devoted wife to Sydney for 59 long years and cherished mother of Michael McNeil of Boston and Aimee and her husband Kevin Harrington of New Seabury. She was the loving grandmother of Brady Harrington, who brought her immense pride and joy.
Born in Boston to her parents Michael and Dolly Murray, she shared her early years with her sisters Carol (Brown) and Rosemary growing up in Hyde Park. She was an avid Irish step dancer who attended Boston public schools and graduated from Mission High School in 1965.
She and Syd settled in Milton, raising their family on Hoy Terrace, a special place for them where their neighbors were like family. After spending 27 years there, they fittingly moved to a "Milton" townhouse at Great Island in Pinehills where they met many new friends and neighbors. Dottie loved to chat and would make friends where ever she went.
She enjoyed working as a hostess for over a decade at Anthony's Pier 4 in Boston where she met so many people and had so many stories to tell, with many involving celebrities and local sports legends who frequented the restaurant. With an interest in travel, she had a successful career spanning 30 years in the airline industry, starting at Eastern Airlines, then US Air and finally retiring from American Airlines in 2016. During that time, she helped countless people at the airport and made many life-long friends there.
She loved travelling with her family. She treasured spending summers in Unity Maine on the lake with neighbors and family from Belfast. She always enjoyed having local lobster and steamers as a traditional way to end the summer. She relished using her airline benefits to travel all around, especially to the Caribbean where she found peace under the warm sun and near the clear blue water.
Dottie was known for her feistiness as a red head, her keen fashion style, and her great sense of humor. She was independent, sharp as tack and never missed a beat (or a word you said). She was always there to offer advice (even if not asked), provide a weather update or to eagerly discuss a current news event. She was loyal and loving and a constant source of strength and comfort.
We will deeply miss her love and laughter and cherish all the fun and memories made as a family. She leaves behind many friends including those so close she considered them to be like sisters; Patty, Marie, and Donna. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
