Dorothy Mae Halliburton, 92, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. A remarkable woman whose life was marked by unwavering faith, love, service, and excellence, she leaves behind a legacy of grace and dignity.
Her Journey
Born on August 18, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Matthew Sims and Mabel Goodman. She graduated from River Rouge High School in Michigan and, through hard work and dedication, earned several professional certifications that led to her career as a Dietary Manager at Hillhaven Convalescent Center in Ripley, TN. She served in this role, and as President of the Dietary Managers Association with wisdom and integrity. Dorothy also touched many lives as a substitute teacher, where she was lovingly referred to as a "blessing" by students and colleagues alike.
A Life of Faith and Service
Dorothy accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. Her love for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life; she devoted herself to teaching women's Bible study and nurturing the spiritual growth of others. As an Elder in her church, she exemplified the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31:70-31.
Known for her belief that "beauty was a duty," Dorothy was always impeccably dressed and groomed, presenting herself to the world with elegance. A gifted seamstress, she had a unique ability to improve everything she touched-whether it was clothing, food, or the hearts of the people she encountered.
Family and Legacy
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, McCauley Halliburton who passed away on July 28, 2017 and her siblings Benita White, Matthew Sims Jr., Lottie Welch, Ellen Moore, Sarah Lavender, Norman Sims and Lucy Truitt.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving children: Michael Halliburton (Diane}, James Owens, Deborah Shields, Errol Halliburton {LeShae). She also leaves behind six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who were the pride of her life.
