Dorothy L Reynolds

1932 - 2025

Born April 20, 1932 in Brooklyn New York, passed away peacefully at the William Childs Hospice House, Nov 25, 2025.
Dot was raised on her parents' poultry farm, "The Wagon Wheel Turkey Ranch" in Smithtown, Long Island where she became "Miss Wagon Wheel Turkey Ranch". She then went on to graduate from Courtland State Teachers College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. After college she married Mike Johnson and moved to Sioux City, IA. Once Mike was discharged from the Air Force they moved back to Long Island and had 3 daughters; Sheryl Dixon (Garry), Barbara Berlin (David) and Pamela Johnson.
Dot worked in Smithtown Central and Huntington Union Free School Districts until 1965 when the family decided to move to the Florida Space Coast. Mike took a job with NorthAmerican Rockwell working on the APOLLO program. In 1966 the Johnsons opened a private kindergarten in Rockledge with their partners, the Armellinis. It was called "The Ye Olde Schoolhouse" where Miss Dot and Miss Marlene were beloved fixtures in the community for 3 years. In 1969, the Johnsons divorced and the school was sold the their partners.
Dot then went to work in the Brevard County Public School system at Freedom 7 Elementary, where she stayed for the next 14 years teaching kindergarten.
In 1982, she married Foster Reynolds (who also had 3 children: Lynn, Foster Jr., and Patricia) and shortly thereafter, retired. It was at that point she picked up the love of tennis, which she played often also entertaining their many friends and traveling. Dot and Foster had many wonderful adventures together, from Dot receiving her single-engine pilots license so she could co-pilot their trips to and from their place in Bimini, Bahamas, to their around the country adventures in their motor home, to their many cruises around the globe. Then their stint as "gentlemen ranchers" in Kerrville, TX, until she missed their grandchildren and moved back to Melbourne in 1997 where they remained continuing their adventures until Foster passed away in 2008. At that time Dot moved to Grand Isle (where she had wanted to live for a very long time). She thoroughly enjoyed the community card games, bingo and attending the Timacuan ladies monthly luncheons. She also volunteered at Wuestoff Hospital (where she was awarded the Humanitarian Volunteer of the year in 2013). Shortly thereafter, she volunteered at the VA Hospital here in Viera. She ALWAYS enjoyed socializing, cocktailing and entertaining with her many many friends who remained in the area.
Dot is survived by her 3 daughters, her stepdaughter, Patricia and her grandchildren, Jamie Dixon, Steven Kjetland (Christina), Robby Berlin (Lauren), Michelle Reynolds and Daniel Reynolds.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the William Childs Hospice House / Health First Hospice of Brevard for the many wonderful souls that came into our lives. We are forever grateful.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held January 24th, 2026 from 2p-5p at the Grand Isle Club House, 1910 Grand Isle Blvd, Melbourne, FL.
