Douglas E Fortney

Douglas E. Fortney, 59, of Peoria, passed away March 22, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

A Celebration of life will be held for Douglas “Duke” Fortney on Saturday April 4, 2026.

Douglas was born in Gunnison, Mississippi on January 19, 1967 to Emmanuel and Macknolia (Beans) Fortney. He worked as a cook. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, cooking, watching Western shows, and cars.

Douglas is survived by his wife Willielette Fortney, whom he married on May 13, 2011, two sons, Douglas Smith and Terrence Smith; one daughter, Gabby Mallery; seven siblings, Elaina Fortney, Donnie Fortney, Brenda Fortney, Merlin Fortney, Herman Fortney, Darnell Fortney, and Emmite Fortney; 2 daughters-in-law; Sha’Nique and Sha’Kisha Isadore, and a host of grandchildren whom he loved deeply.He also admired all of his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Fortney.
