Douglas Edward Meyer of Canton, Michigan passed away on March 10, 2026. He was 77 years old, born in Detroit, Michigan on April 22, 1948, the son of Barbara (Walton) and George Meyer. Douglas was also predeceased by his first wife Toni (Grunewald) Meyer, and his wife Cynthia (Walls) Meyer. Doug is survived by four daughters and their families: Heather Meyer Weingart of Shaker Heights, OH, and husband Michael; Nicole Meyer Lynch of Lake Norman, NC, and husband Kevin; Kendra Meyer Tuazon of Highland Park, IL, and husband Ronald; and Erica Settle Ramey of Willis, MI, and husband Jason. He loved and praised seven grandchildren: Gage, Addison, Jake, MaKenzie, Olive, Mavis, and Jordan. He is also survived by two sisters: Janet Meyer Brunkhorst of Warwick, NY, and husband Mark; and Karen Beacom Carlson of Centennial, CO, and husband James, and nieces Kate and Shel, and nephew Logan.
Doug and beloved wife Cindy enjoyed many years of Northern Michigan outdoor sports with migrated friends, and eventually the build-out of a getaway of their own in Honor, MI. They were active members of the Harvest Bible Church in Westland, MI.
Doug served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. His earliest career, residing in New Jersey, and New Orleans was in management consulting. Returning to the Detroit metro area, he completed his BA degree while working full time at Ford Motor Company, in management and training roles focused on quality processes and implementation, retiring after 30+ years. He was an avid college sports fan and a prideful cook, always leaning into new recipes at home.
Cremation was private. Future family services to be announced. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society.
