Douglas Edward Miller, 76, of Tolland, Connecticut, passed away December 26th, 2025 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on July 9, 1949, in Lincoln, Maine, to Ronald and Vivian (Innis) Miller. When Douglas was two years old, his family relocated to Connecticut, eventually settling in Mansfield Center.

Douglas attended Mansfield schools and later worked alongside his father, uncles and brothers in concrete and foundational work, a trade he took great pride in. He loved taking family members on drives to point out the homes and buildings built on foundations he helped lay. His family is especially proud of the many homes throughout Mansfield that still stand on foundations Douglas was a part of.

In 1968, Douglas married his soulmate, Carol Ann Sprague, and they shared 57 years together. They made their home in Willimantic, where they raised their two children, welcomed two grandchildren, and most recently became great-grandparents. Douglas and Carol enjoyed many years of seasonal camping and formed lasting friendships along the way.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Angela; his son, Jason Miller (Billie Jo); grandsons Joshua MacNeal (Natalie) and Bryant Miller (Alisabeth); and his great-grandson, Clover. He is also survived by his brothers, Kevin and Rick Miller; his sister, Kim Miller; and his longtime friend and honorary son, Fred Setterberg.

He was predeceased by his parents; his in-laws, Richard, affectionately known by Douglas as Pappy and Rose Sprague; his sisters, Judith Stebbins and Ronnie Collelo; and his brother, James Miller.

Burial and a celebration of life will be held in the spring.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Backus Hospital and Hartford Hospital, as well as the members of the Tolland Volunteer Fire Department.

To honor Douglas's memory, the family invites memorial contributions to The Last Green Valley.
