Douglas Franklin Roberts

1944 - 2026

Douglas Franklin Roberts, 81, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan passed away peacefully and comfortably on March 6, 2026.
Born November 18, 1944 in Grayling, Michigan Doug lived a life in finding joy in many sports and activities. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, skeet and trap shooter and photographer. Doug enjoyed not only playing golf but making golf clubs for his many friends in Michigan and Florida. He was a very accomplished golfer and played to win but if he could help his buddies it made him happy to make them a special club to help their game. Doug was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and a proud Great Grandfather. Doug enjoyed his many sports in Michigan but looked forward to retirement and being able to pursue them daily. He retired from AT&T with 30 plus years of service in 1999 and moved to Florida. He was head of his golf league for over 10 years but beside that he loved to take cruises, travel to Alaska and Hawaii and explore Florida places—especially Key West.
Doug was predeceased by his beloved parents Franklin and Eva of Prudenville, Michigan, his brother Richard ( Linda) Roberts and his brother Daniel of Ft Lauderdale, Florida.
Doug is survived by his wife Diane of 42 years, his son Douglas of Richmond, Virginia, daughters Lori (Bruce) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Lisa (Keith) of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, stepdaughter Kristin ( Josh) King of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, stepson Erik Enderle of Manor, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Doug was often the life of the party and loved to entertain by mixing cocktails and grilling a super sized steak. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and all those who encountered him. All that knew him will hold dear the treasured memories of his laugh and the good times shared with him.

There will be a family memorial at Houghton Lake to honor Doug when the ice and snow is gone!
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation at ALS.org to honor Doug and his Dad Franklin Roberts.
