Douglas Lee Simms, Sr., 63, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on March 28, 2026. Born on March 30, 1962, in Baltimore, Douglas spent his life in the city he called home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity.
Douglas is survived by his devoted wife, Christina Simms, and their six children: Douglas Simms Jr., Aaron Simms, Tiffany Heron, Corey Simms, Stephen Simms, and Joshua Simms. He was predeceased by his father, Charles “Jack” Douglas Simms; his grandmother, Eva Maurer; his cousin, Sean Simms; and his stepfather, Harry Langley.
A man of many talents and passions, Douglas lived life with a playful and youthful spirit that never dimmed. His boisterous personality could fill any room with energy and joy. Known for his jokes and harmless pranks, he had an uncanny ability to make those around him laugh and feel at ease. His presence was unforgettable—vibrant and full of life.
Douglas was a man of remarkable creativity and intelligence. Whether it was building firearms or crafting small working cannons—a unique passion of his—he approached every project with determination and precision. His artistic side shone through in his painting and other creative endeavors. He had a knack for figuring out how to build or fix just about anything he set his mind to. Stubborn yet meticulous, he took immense pride in his work and always strived for perfection.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Douglas enjoyed a wide array of hobbies that reflected his adventurous spirit. He loved fishing and hunting as much as he cherished quiet moments playing with the family dogs or having bonfires in the yard. Shopping trips were another source of joy for him—an activity where he could indulge his curiosity and appreciation for detail. Riding his Harley brought him freedom and exhilaration that matched the boldness of his character.
Above all else, Douglas will be remembered for the love he shared with those closest to him. His family was the center of his world, and the memories they created together will forever remain in their hearts. His laughter echoed through their lives like a melody that will never fade.
Though Douglas has departed this world too soon, the impact he made on those who knew him is immeasurable. May the memories of his vibrant spirit bring comfort to all who mourn him. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM at North Point-Edgemere Volunteer Fire Department 7500 North Point Road. Service is between 12-1.
