Brian Charles Brenner was a native Californian. He was born and grew up in Long Beach, California. Brian achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1972 and was proud to see his son Ian achieve the same in 2001. At Brian's Eagle Court of Honor, he was recognized for his leadership and as the troop's leading mountaineer. After scouting Brian completed his degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of California-Irvine campus. He lettered in Varsity Crew. Dr. Brenner graduated from U.C. Irvine School of Medicine in 1982.

His residency in orthopedic surgery was completed at the St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas in June 1987, followed by a one-year fellowship in arthritis surgery at the Denver Orthopedic Clinic.

In 1988, Dr. Brenner opened his orthopedic medicine practice at Kern Bone and Joint Specialists, Inc. in Bakersfield, California. His service to his patients and the medical community were extensive. He served as President of the Kern County Medical Society, Chief of Surgery for Mercy Hospital and Chief of Orthopedics at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. He held the position of President of the Foundation for Medical Care from 1997 until 2015. Leadership also included his service on the San Joaquin Hospital Board of Directors and the Board of Millennium Surgery Center of Bakersfield.

Dr. Brenner retired from his medical practice and community leadership in December 2015, following a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. In 2016, he and Linda (married in 1982) relocated to Jacksonville, Florida for retirement. Brian Brenner is survived by his wife Linda (Webb) Brenner of Jacksonville; daughter Heather Brenner, a speech pathologist in Jacksonville; his son Ian Brenner; Ian's wife Kelly Brenner and their twin children - Charles Brenner and Claire Brenner. Ian is a Commander in the US Navy.

Brian Charles Brenner is also survived by his sister Katharine Brenner of Cincinnati, Ohio and nephews Ryan (Vanessa) and Blake (Stephanie). Brian was predeceased by his father Donald Harvey Brenner (1924-1996) and Patricia Huscher Brenner (1926-2013).

From a young age until his passing, Brian exhibited courage, strength, perseverance, and faith in God. His legacy will be his children, twin grandchildren and the many patients he served. He was a tremendously proud father to Ian and Heather. We will all remember his integrity, quick wit, love of the outdoors, active adventurous lifestyle, patriotism, and his love of science, history, geology, and medicine - a life "well lived".

******Those wishing to honor his life in lieu of flowers may donate to Samaritans Purse, an international organization meeting medical and spiritual needs worldwide.
