Marva was the daughter of Frank and Alice Strickland and the sister of Floyd, William, Betty and David Strickland, all of whom proceeded her in death. She was born and raised in Thomaston, GA.
She was the valedictorian of Drake High School's class of 1965 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Spelman College in 1969. She exemplified the values of excellence and service throughout her life. Marva later earned her Education Doctorate (EdD), exemplifying perseverance and dedication to personal and professional growth.
Dr. Harden was a devoted servant of God, accomplished educator, licensed clinical social worker, minister and compassionate community leader. Her professional career reflected her deep commitment to helping others. She lived abroad for several years in South Korea and Italy, experiences that broadened her worldview and enriched her compassionate approach to service.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Harden was deeply rooted in ministry. She served faithfully in service ministry for several years and was an ordained minister, answering a divine call to spiritual leadership and care. Her ministry touched lives through guidance, prayer, and unwavering faith.
